How To Practice Gratitude

Leadership Lessons: What is the Black Belt Mindset?

Week 2: Gratitude

A Black Belt should always practice gratitude; this is the mindset of being thankful for everything in life, to show appreciation, and to return kindness.

Gratitude is loving your life and all the crazy, messy, awesome, and difficult parts of it. When you are grateful for what you have, you attract more of that! This attitude is also understanding that life is good, some people in the world don’t get to experience the same things as we do. This mindset changes your viewpoint of a bad day, and makes you realize that my problem would be a blessing for some people around the world!

Gratitude makes us nicer, more trusting, more social, and more appreciative. As a result, it helps us make more friends, deepen our existing relationships, and strengthen our level of leadership!

As a fourth degree Black Belt, I practice gratitude every day, especially when life hits me with a nice tornado kick that I didn’t see coming! Negative occasions are supposed to happen, that is the game of life! But I’ve found the best way to deal with bad times is to stop and think about all the great things I have in my life. I think about my family, my school and all the great students I have, and of course I think about my dog!

What are you grateful for?
